Fascinating Studies in Support of Chiropractic Adjustments Published in 2017
Are you curious about chiropractic adjustments, but aren’t sure if science really backs it up? As an experienced chiropractor (and the son of a chiropractor), I’ve seen thousands of patients benefit from adjustments. But don’t take my word for it. Check out these many scientific studies on chiropractic adjustments, all published in 2017.
2017 Scientific Studies on Chiropractics
Back Pain
Most patients first explore chiropractic adjustments when faced with back pain. While adjustments work for a wide variety of conditions, back pain is one of the first and foremost conditions associated with chiropractics for good reason: it works.
A recent study conducted in the UK evaluated 965 new patients receiving chiropractic treatment for lower back pain. Pain was rated at the initial appointment and after six weeks of chiropractic adjustments. 60% reported significantly improved physical health, including better functionality and mobility, less pain (or pain gone altogether). A similar study review published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) and reviewing 26 clinical trials also concluded that chiropractic adjustments are effective in treating back pain.
As a result, the American College of Physicians now recommends spinal manipulation (chiropractic adjustment) as the first-line treatment of back pain, greatly favoring chiropractic adjustments, acupuncture and massage over painkillers. This is due to studies like this one published in the Journal of the American Medical Association showing opioids to be ineffective for relief of back pain. The risks of opioid addiction are not worth the marginal and temporary pain relief provided by these addictive drugs. Chiropractic adjustments provide lasting relief with no side effects.
